AllMusic Review by Andy Kellman
The Infamous Mobb Deep, confusingly similar in title to the duo's 1995 classic The Infamous..., is a double album that contains a set of new material, as well as a batch of previously unreleased tracks that dates back to the sessions for that second album. A project held up for a few years due to a conflict between Havoc and Prodigy -- it was eventually resolved -- the first disc is solid, despite its difficult birth. The duo's impenitent rhymes are supported by lean and raw productions, the duties split between the likes of Havoc (seven cuts), Illmind (four), the Alchemist (three), and Boi-1da (two), along with solitary contributions from Salaam Remi, Michael Uzowuru and Om'Mas Keith, and Kaytranada, among others. Hardcore mid-'90s rap diehards should dig the second disc, though none of it is particularly revelatory.
